Diesel vehicles continue to grow in popularity, and Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security will often get asked about diesel remote starters. The conversation usually starts like this: “I hear you guys do lots of remote starters, and I would love to have one, but I have a diesel.” Want to hear the good news? We have been remote-starting diesels safely and reliably for years. To get you even more excited, the benefits of remote-starting a diesel are greater than what you get from a gas-powered vehicle. Here’s why.
Our Remote Starters Are Specifically Tailored To Diesel Engine Needs
If you own a diesel, then you know it takes longer for your engine to warm up than for a gas-powered vehicle. We design our diesel remote starters to run significantly longer than their gas counterparts, so when it is really cold outside, you can rest assured they can do their job.
Our technicians are specialists in properly starting your diesel and know how long to let your glow plugs heat up before safely starting the engine.
Remote Starting Your Diesel Increases Startup Efficiency
Have you ever noticed that your diesel engine is not as responsive, or doesn’t feel as powerful, until it warms up? That is because diesel engines are cold-natured, so remote-starting your engine every day of the year is a great idea. In fact, your diesel engine will be more fuel-efficient once it has gotten up to operating temperature after a remote start, so using this technology helps offset the fuel cost of warming it up. Pretty cool, huh?
Our Turbo-Timer Features Helps Increase Turbo Lifespan
Another great option we have for you diesel owners is a turbo timer feature. Modern diesel engines use turbochargers to increase efficiency and power. A turbocharger can spin as fast as 100,000 rpms when you are really working your engine. As you can imagine, the bearings in the turbo get very hot and, when you pull into your parking spot and turn off the engine, those bearings are not happy. That is why experts say it is good to allow for a short cool-down period before shutting off the engine. But who has time for that? Our turbo timer function will keep your engine running for, say, 2 minutes after you turn off the key, allowing the turbo to cool down properly, which will extend its life. You just get out of the vehicle like normal and lock the doors. The engine will then shut down at the pre-determined time.
Manual Transmission Diesel? No Problem!
