Ford Focus Auto Start Featuring DroneMobile For Anchorage Client

10/22/2016 By John Schwartz

Ford Focus Auto StartA client from Anchorage, Alaska, came in with a 2015 Ford Focus and inquired about an auto start for the car. We discussed the available options, such as choosing between one-way and two-way remotes. Two-way remotes let you know the vehicle has locked, unlocked or started by flashing an LED or illuminating a character on an LCD screen. A one-way remote doesn’t provide confirmation.

Infinite Range Remote Control

Ford Focus Auto Start
DroneMobile allows control of the auto start system from anywhere the client has cellular service.

We discussed how far away from the vehicle the client would be when attempting to start it. Based on the client’s information, we suggested using the Compustar DroneMobile cellular interface and smartphone application to accompany a CS800 remote. As long as the client and the vehicle are within cellular range, the vehicle will start by pressing a button in the DroneMobile app.

Protection and Security Options

Ford Focus Auto Start
Thanks to the auto start system by Compustar the interior of this Focus will always be comfortable when the client gets in.

The FT-DAS also plays a major role in protecting the vehicle. When the vehicle is armed, the FT-DAS sensor monitors the vehicle’s tilt, motion or shock. There are three stages to the alarm. Stage one is warn-away, Stage two is impact and Stage three is door trigger.

Perfect Installation Every Time

Ford Focus Auto Start
The rugged Compustar remote gives the client easy control of the new system.

We started our install by checking the vehicle’s functions and recording the results on our iPad-based check-in system. One of our expert technicians performed the installation. We always solder each and every electrical connection. We secure those connections and the wiring with Tesa cloth tape and zip ties to ensure maximum reliability. Once the installation is complete, we have a different technician check out the vehicle. He reviews all the work done to the vehicle in the standard vehicle functions. We confirm functionality of the hood pin, brake shutdown, locking and remote start functionality.

The hood pin is essential in every remote starter installation. If the hood is open and someone tries to remote start the truck, it will not start and gives an error. We install a hood pin on every vehicle that gets a remote starter. The hood pin links to the security portion of the system. If someone opens the hood while the vehicle is armed, the DroneMobile alerts the owner right away. A high-output siren also sounds if any of the protection zones are activated.

Final Vehicle Treatment Before Ford Focus Auto Start Is Considered Complete

After completing the post-installation test, we vacuumed the vehicle and added a complimentary bottle of Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security water and a VIP hanger on the rearview mirror. When the client returned, we taught him how to use the application on his phone.

If you are interested in a remote starter for your car or truck this coming winter, please call us at 907-563-8112. You can also drop by the store, or e-mail us here for more information.

Compustar CS800 Remote Starter for 2015 Subaru Crosstrek

10/07/2016 By John Schwartz

Crosstrek Remote Starter
Crosstrek Remote Starter

With winter just around the corner, a new client from Anchorage, Alaska, came in with a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek to inquire about a remote starter for their brand-new car. We went over different options, such as choosing between a one-way and a two-way system. We then talked about how far away the vehicle probably would be when the client would try to start it. Compustar has models with ranges starting at 1,000 feet all the way up to 3 miles, or even unlimited range through the DroneMobile system.

The unit we ended up going with was the Compustar CS800. This unit is a one-way system with 1,000 feet of range.

We always start by checking every function of the car, using our iPads to record everything. We performed our install using Tesa tape and zip ties, and soldering each connection. Once we complete the installation, we have a different technician check the vehicle over. He reviews the functions and also inspects the work that was performed. In this case, he checked the hood pin, break shutdown, unlock, lock and remote start features. The hood pin is essential in every remote start. It is a pin under the hood that detects whether the hood is open or closed. If the hood is open and someone tries to remote start the truck, it will not start and will give an error. The hood pin is an important safety feature, so we install a hood pin on every vehicle that gets a remote starter.

Before we pulled the Subaru out of our bay, we added a complimentary Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security water bottle and a VIP hanger.

We taught our client how to use their new remote starter, and answered any questions they might have.

If you are interested in a remote starter for this winter, call us at 907-563-8112 or contact us here.

Anchorage Dealership Gets C-Force 800EPS Lighting Upgrade

06/08/2016 By John Schwartz

C-Force 800EPS LightingPerfectionist Auto Sound & Security is honored to be trusted by many dealers around Anchorage with outfitting vehicles they sell to their clients. One such dealer is Marita Sea and Ski. They contacted us recently about doing a 2015 C-Force 800EPS lighting upgrade. After spending time with them to understand their goals for the upgrades, we worked up a proposal for the vehicle that they liked, so we scheduled a time to work on the ATV.

Lighting Upgrades Necessary In The Alaskan Darkness

As you already know, in Alaska, it gets dark. Really dark. At certain times of the year, we experience much longer periods of darkness compared to other places. What that means to Alaska residents is they want great lighting on their vehicles. If you have ever driven an ATV at night, you already know the lighting is subpar at best.

Headlight Upgrade

C-Force 800EPS Lighting
We upgraded the headlights and the associated wiring for more output.

What we like to do is maximize the performance of the stock lighting and then add auxiliary lighting until the client is satisfied. In this C-Force, we replaced the weak, yellowish-looking incandescent headlight bulbs with our TurnAgain H4 HID system. The bulbs fit into the stock headlight housings, and then we securely mounted the 25 watt digital ballasts in a secure location. We use the 25 watt models on most ATVs, based on their limited charging capability, and these ballasts work perfectly on this model.

We used a relay harness so the ballasts now draw their power directly from the battery and not the lighting harness. Doing this ensures that the lighting gets all the current it needs and extends the life expectancy of the product. We properly loomed and securely mounted all of our wiring to allow for easy servicing in the future, and soldered all of our connections and covered in heat-shrink for durability.

Dual Vision X Light Bars

C-Force 800EPS Lighting
The Vision X dual light bars help to augment the headlight output.

Once the headlights were working at maximum output, we added a pair of Vision X XiL-EP220 5” light bars. These are LED-based lights that only draw 1.67 amps of current each, meaning they won’t overload the charging system – but, boy, do they have lots of output. The included 10 watt LEDs along with the precision optics make for an incredible improvement in nighttime visibility. We mounted the lights securely to the front metal rack and installed a handlebar-mounted switch near the headlight switch, giving the rider easy control over the new lighting.

Matching Running Lights

C-Force 800EPS Lighting
Our lighting package complete, this ATV now has greatly enhanced night safety.

For a finishing touch, we replaced the existing running light bulbs with new LED models that gave the rider a brighter, whiter light, keeping with the theme of the other upgrades.

2015 Toyota Sienna Compustar Remote Start Swap

05/19/2016 By John Schwartz

2015 Sienna RS Swap
2015 Sienna RS Swap

A client from Eagle River came in to Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security with their 2015 Toyota Sienna. We recently removed the remote start and Drone from their previous vehicle.

Our client liked the Compustar system so much that they didn’t want to get rid of it when they bought a new vehicle, which gave them a little bit of a price break. There was also no learning curve for our client. They were fully familiar with their system and will continue to love it.

We took their old unit and  reinstalled it in the brand-new Sienna.

We also added horn honk to the Sienna. “Horn honk” is when you tap the lock button and the horn honks. This confirms the vehicle has been locked and also helps clients find their cars in big parking lots or garages.

When you are ready to have a remote start of your own installed, or need more information about remote starters, come on in or give us a call. You can Contact Us Here.

Our client purchased our Vision X 7″ Vortex LED headlight assembly kit for her 2015 Jeep Wrangler. We also added basic LED bulbs to the foglights. A few weeks later, she returned and we replaced the bulbs with matching foglight assemblies, using a Vision X XIL-OE13JKXOPRH vehicle-specific kit, because she wanted the LEDs to match for cosmetic reasons.

Lighting is a specialty of ours. Visit Perfectionist for your lighting solution today!  You can also Contact Us here.
