Product Spotlight: Maestro F150 Kit

08/08/2017 By John Schwartz

Maestro F150 KitAt Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security in Anchorage, we offer our clients the latest in cutting-edge technology for your vehicle. Some factory systems have made integrating a new upgraded head unit challenging, but thanks to companies like iDataLink and their Maestro F150 kit, we can offer you a clean upgrade for your 2013-up Ford F150 truck.

Maestro F150 Kit

Maestro F150 KitThe 2013 and up Ford F150 with the 4.3” “My Ford Touch” factory radio and climate control system does not allow for a direct replacement of the radio. The engineers at iDataLink have solved that problem with a well-designed installation kit that provides mounting for a single or double DIN head unit.  It moves the climate control system, and provides a storage pocket with ports that allow easy access to some of the features that may be on your new radio like USB, HDMI, or audio ports.

Keep that Factory Look

The kit has a new center dash panel that perfectly matches the cosmetics of the Ford interior. The climate control system connects to a new central heater/AC control unit that keeps the factory look but moves it to a location that allows for a double DIN opening for your new radio. The new radio is centered in the kit for easy access. With your new reconfigured center console, we are free to upgrade you to the latest technology and features that you want for your truck.

Keep the Factory Functions

Maestro F150 KitWith the addition of the iDataLink Maestro RR and a new compatible head unit, you will not only get to keep the steering wheel controls, but you will also be able to connect to voice, phone, media, back-up cameras, and other vehicle information such as additional gauges and vehicle performance indicators. You will not have to sacrifice anything that you like about the factory system to do a major upgrade.

Here at Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security, we can tackle any challenge.  Our Ford F150 upgrade with the iDataLink Maestro F150 kit is just one example. Come on by and let us show you the other options we have for your truck- or any other vehicle you own! Click here for more information.

What Is A Bypass Module, And Why Do I Need One?

11/25/2015 By John Schwartz

Bypass ModuleSome of the most common questions we get at Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security revolve around remote starters. There are many myths and unanswered questions about this exciting technology, so we thought we would explore one of the most common questions:

What is a bypass module, and why do I need one?

This comes up more and more with modern vehicles. Have you ever tried to get a new key made for your vehicle? Did you notice that they don’t cost a dollar anymore? The reason behind the increased cost is the transponder chip that is hidden inside the black plastic part of your key.

Transponder Chips, A Security Code For Your Car

Bypass ModuleWhat is a transponder chip? A transponder chip is an electronic key to your vehicle. When you insert your key into the ignition, an antenna surrounds the ignition cylinder, hidden by the plastic around the cylinder itself. The antenna picks up the signal from the transponder and sends it to your vehicle’s computer. If the computer recognizes the transponder chip code, it allows the vehicle to start and keep running. If it doesn’t recognize the transponder code, your engine won’t keep running. This is a very simple but effective way to counteract vehicle theft.

The reason you need a bypass module is to allow your vehicle to keep running. The installation team at Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security can do a fabulous job of installing your remote start, but if the computer doesn’t see a transponder code it likes, your engine will shut off. And your vehicle stays cold if it’s wintertime.

Bypass Modules Allow Safe Remote Starting Of Your Vehicle

Bypass ModuleA bypass module solves that problem. We use a state-of-the-art product designed by Idatalink in Canada that gets loaded with software specific to the year, make and model of your vehicle. When you ask your vehicle to start, the module sends a command to the computer that is recognized as a valid transponder chip, and the vehicle starts. Rest assured, this is completely safe, since we are not bypassing any safety feature on your vehicle. If anyone tampers with your vehicle, the remote start will shut off and the transponder system in your vehicle will reengage, making it as safe as if it was never running.

Some shops will take a completely different approach to an installation and look for cheap, ineffective ways to bypass your transponder anti-theft system. We never cut corners on an installation, and we believe that bypassing any factory-installed theft deterrent system is foolish.
