A customer came to our shop recently wanting a dash camera for their vehicle. This customer was a local security officer for an establishment here in Anchorage, Alaska, and wanted the Momento 6 installed on his 2018 Ford Explorer Interceptor. This is a DVR that includes a color display along with a front- and rearward-facing camera. It records video 24/7 to a micro SD card. In the event of an impact, it locks video into memory 20 seconds before and 20 seconds after the impact and can’t be overwritten — perfect for any police or security vehicle.
2018 Audi Q8 Gets Smartphone-Controlled Long-Range Remote Start
In the midst of auto start season here in Anchorage, Alaska, we see customers come in every day with all types of vehicles. From Toyotas to BMWs, from the 1990s to 2020s, we see it all. It is always exciting, though, seeing a newer vehicle come in that not many installers have worked on. After consulting with a customer who has a 2018 Audi Q8 and talking about her specific needs and preferences, we decided on the Pro G15, a two-way remote with a range of 2 miles. “Two-way” meaning she will be notified when the vehicle is started, locked or unlocked through an LED light, audible tone or LCD screen — even through a push notification if she’s using the Compustar Drone.
We start every install with a check-in using an iPad, which includes taking photos of the exterior, checking the functions of the vehicle and performing a battery test. We then put a battery charger on the vehicle with a fender cover to protect the vehicle’s paint from any scratches. Our techs prep the install by soldering every connection; electrical-taping each connection; and then using JK Tapes, a cloth tape similar to the tape used in factory, to clean up the install. In this case, the installation took place in the trunk of the vehicle, rather than the driver’s-side dash.
Since this 2018 Audi Q8 is a push-to-start, it also goes to show how experienced our technicians are at installing auto starts, especially for European vehicles.
The next time you’re looking for an autostart and need highly skilled and trained installers to work on your complex European vehicle, Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security will take care of you.
Rigid Light Bar Provides Greater Visibility for 2020 RAM 1500 Driver
A repeat customer from Lithia Dodge of Anchorage recently visited us here at Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security with his beautiful 2020 Ram 1500. He was interested in upgrades for lighting, so one of our installation technicians went outside and began a consultation with the customer, looking closely at the setup he already had on his truck. After looking at the vehicle together, they talked over the many options available for upgrades.
The customer fell in love with Rigid Lighting, a brand we have come to love and trust here at Perfectionist. After discussing light patterns and what would work best for the customer’s specific needs and the weather conditions here in Alaska, they decided on installing the Rigid Industries Rig122313 20″ light bar on the truck. The consultation was completed by the customer booking an appointment and our technician setting aside all of the parts needed for the install.
On the day of the appointment, after disassembling the bumper, grille and bumper caps, our technician was able to build metal brackets to house the light bar mounts. Once the 20″ light bar was mounted with a relay harness, we reassembled the truck and aimed the light bar appropriately. The install was completed with a simple cleaning of the vehicle and the area we worked around.
Once the vehicle was all cleaned up, we presented the customer with their vehicle and demonstrated the new lights. They were ecstatic! The final look was sleek, clean and exactly what they had wanted.
Here at Perfectionist, we strive to provide satisfaction to all of our amazing customers, and have extremely experienced technicians and salespeople to guide you through all of your lighting needs.

Momento Dash Camera Systems
Why do you need a dash camera?
A dash camera installed in your vehicle is a great way to protect yourself from accidents, vandalism, and much more vehicle challenges. Momento Dash Camera Systems will record dangerous driving, fraudulent behavior or accidents. This footage can be of great value with a situation arises. Here are some circumstances dash cams can be of use:
What is looping technology?
The Momento Dash Camera Systems both have loop technology. Which means it is constantly recording and will overwrite older footage. Although, if there was impact or motion while recording then the dash cam will record before, during and after the impact and that footage will be saved in a separate folder. The dash cam has the impact and motion sensors built-in to the unit itself.
What is low-light sensor?
The Momento M5 is not only HD, and has storage up to 32GB, but has a low-light sensor built-in. The low-light sensor is a Sony Exmor R Image Sensor. In other words, it improves stability and visibility when it is dark out. This is a great feature when the footage is recording during night, or dark areas.
