Product Spotlight: Optix RVCLPMB And RVM430NBTG Backup System

12/19/2016 By John Schwartz

Optix Backup SystemA lot of clients come to Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security in search of backup camera systems for their cars and trucks. Adding this technology not only can make parking easier and faster, it dramatically increases the safety of everyone around your vehicle. We have several options for cameras and displays, but our most popular package is from a company called Accele. The Optix RVCLPMB low-profile camera and the RVM430NBTG replacement rearview mirror with monitor comprise our backup system that works well in most vehicles.

Premium License Plate Camera

Optix Backup SystemThe Accele RVCLPMB is an adjustable-angle 1/3-inch CCD camera in a metal mounting bracket. The camera has a resolution of 528 pixels horizontally and 492 pixels vertically. The wide-aperture design allows the camera to capture images in light levels as low as 0.1 Lux. This light sensitivity measurement ensures that your reverse lights are more than enough to illuminate anything behind you safely, even in the darkest situations. The camera has built-in parking guide/grid lines to help you navigate into a parking spot.

Universal Rearview Mirror with Monitor

In some vehicles, we can integrate the image from a backup camera into a factory display. While this looks neat and tidy, those video interfaces are costly. Enter the Accele RVM430NBTG. This replacement rearview mirror mounts in place of your factory mirror, using the factory mounting hardware. When the camera system is not in use, the RVM430NBTG looks like a normal 10-inch mirror. As soon as you put your transmission in reverse, a 4.3-inch LCD on the right side of the screen shows the image from the camera.

The RVM430NBTG isn’t just a one-trick pony. The mirror also includes Bluetooth interface for hands-free operation of your cellphone. A speaker and built-in microphone ensure you can hear the caller clearly, and that they can hear you. The 4.3” LCD screen displays phone numbers for incoming calls, so you know who is calling.

Repeat Client From Anchorage Gets Ford F150 Backup Safety Solution

11/02/2016 By John Schwartz

F150 Backup Safety

One of our regular clients from here in Anchorage recently brought in his 2012 Ford crew cab truck for a F-150 backup safety solution. The camera system had been a gift, and the client was just getting around to having it installed. He wanted the cameras so his wife would have an easier time driving the truck.

An Integrated Video Solution

F150 Backup Safety
We offer complete backup safety solutions.
F150 Backup Safety
The rearview mirror incorporates a backup video monitor, while retaining a thin profile.

The client had an Optix RVM430NTBG rear view mirror and an Optix RVCLPMB bar-style rear view camera for the truck. The rear view mirror looks very similar to the factory mirror and measures 10 inches in width for great viewing. As soon as the driver of the vehicle puts the transmission into reverse, the image from the camera appears on a 4.3” LCD screen built into the mirror. When not in use, the screen is invisible.

The RVM430NTBG mirror mounts directly to the factory mirror mount. This mounting method makes the installation very reliable.

Using a rear view mirror monitor provides clients with a natural location to look at when backing up. Looking at the rear view mirror reduces the learning curve associated with adding new technology to the vehicle.

Low-profile License Plate Camera

F150 Backup Safety
The backup camera blends nicely with the tag and also helps support it.

The Optix RVCLPMB rear view camera is slim and installs using the license plate mounting holes. We mounted it to the top holes to provide the driver with a large view of the area behind the vehicle. We adjusted he angle of the camera so the very edge of the bumper is visible.

The camera has a low-light sensitivity specification of 0.1 Lux. This rating means that it can almost see in the dark. The bright-white factory reverse lights are more than enough to illuminate everything behind the vehicle.

State-of-the-Art Installation

F150 Backup Safety
Loom tubing was added to the backup camera wiring to protect it.

Our technicians took the time to add plastic split looming to the wiring coming from the camera to give it added protection against the elements. We ran the power and video signals to the interior of the truck and connected them to the monitor. We acquired an accessory power source, as well as the reverse light trigger for the monitor. As with all the connections we make, our technicians used solder to ensure reliability. We wrapped the connections and wiring with Tesa cloth tape to ensure they won’t buzz or rattle.

F150 Backup Safety Solution Satisfies Client

The owner was very happy with the installation and operation of the camera system. The client’s wife feels much safer driving the truck.
