2021 Mercedes Sprinter Van Gets Unlimited-Range Remote Start Upgrade

One of our repeat clients brought his 2021 Mercedes Sprinter to our team to get a remote start system installed. He was looking to be able to start the Sprinter from indoors or long distances, with full control from his smartphone. We jumped at the chance to help him out!

We selected a Compustar T12 Remote Kit combined with a Mid City Engineering vehicle-specific harness that gives him plenty of range to start the Mercedes from anywhere using the DroneMobile smartphone app. The vehicle’s push-to-start ignition system still performs the same way it always has, but required an additional charge for the integration to make the factory security and theft prevention systems work perfectly. With this integration, one of the OEM keys had to be sacrificed to integrate the new system. Our technicians integrated everything so you would never see anything out of the ordinary other than the new remote control fobs.

2019 Mazda CX-5 Push-to-Start Upgraded With Compustar Remote Start

A new client who was referred by a friend brought her 2019 Mazda CX-5 to us to see about getting a remote start system installed in it. She wanted to be able to start the vehicle from a good distance away, but wasn’t sure if it could be done to her push-to-start car. Our team works on a huge number of push-to-start vehicles with remote start systems, so we jumped at the chance to get one installed for her.

We selected a Compustar RF2WR3-FM remote starter that gives her two-way control and feedback on the vehicle status, with plenty of range to start it from inside her home or workplace. Can You Put A Remote Car Starter On A Push-To-Start Car?

Many people ask, “Can you put a remote car starter on my push-to-start vehicle?” The short answer is yes. Let’s explore how a remote start can work on your vehicle.

Push-To-Start Remote Starters Are A Little More Complex, But Don’t Worry

First off, you are correct in having some concerns. Installing a remote car starter on a push-to-start vehicle is more complex than installing one that uses a normal key. What that means to you is you want to be very careful about who works on your vehicle. The team at Perfectionist has decades of experience in this field, and we have been working on push-to-start vehicles since they first hit the masses in 2005 on the Toyota Avalon.

Vehicle Operation After Remote Starter Installation

Will your push-to-start vehicle work exactly the same after you get a remote car starter for it? That is another great question. If you are not using the remote car starter, your vehicle will work exactly the same way. No difference at all. When you ask the vehicle to remote-start, you may see some minor changes in how you interact with the vehicle – in some vehicles, you may have to use the unlock button on your remote car starter to unlock the doors if you have remote-started it – but you may not see any changes.

In some vehicles, the engine will shut off when you open the door, so you will simply get in, push the button in the dash to start it, and drive away, just like before.

Some vehicles will not shut off when you go out to them after using the remote starter, so you will just push the start button on the dash and then drive away.

With some vehicles, you won’t need to do anything. You simply unlock the doors with your remote starter fob, get in and drive away. There is no need to push the button.
