Anchorage Client’s 2016 Toyota Rav4 Gets Remote Starter

A client from Anchorage, Alaska, came in with a 2016 Toyota RAV4 for a remote starter system. This client decided on Compustar’s DroneMobile and a basic one-way remote with 1,000 feet of range for a backup. The DroneMobile is very popular in Anchorage and one of the top units we sell. It has unlimited range through an app on the driver’s smartphone, so it works well with clients who travel a lot, and especially with students going to college. (DroneMobile does require an annual service fee or a three-year plan.)

We started our install by checking every function of the vehicle, using our iPads to record everything. We then performed our install using Tesa tape and zip ties, and soldering each and every connection.

Once we complete the job, we have a different technician check out the vehicle. He goes over the same functions and checks the work performed. In this case, he checked the hood pin, brake shutdown, unlock, lock and remote start. After checking out the vehicle, we vacuumed the RAV4. Before we pulled it out of our service bay, we added a complimentary Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security water bottle and a VIP hanger.

We taught our client how to use the new remote start and answered any questions.

If you are interested in a remote start for the winter, call us at 907-563-8112.

Compustar Remote Starter Chosen For Anchorage 2016 Toyota 4-Runner

A client from Anchorage, Alaska, came in with a 2016 Toyota 4Runner and inquired about a remote starter for the brand-new car. They came in knowing they wanted a two-way auto start with at least 6,000 feet of range. We ended up going with the Compustar RF-2W901-SS. This unit is a two-way system that has up to a mile of range and is rechargeable. It also has a one-year warranty on the remotes as long as they are not physically damaged.

We started by checking every function of the vehicle, using our iPads to record everything. We then performed our install using Tesa tape and zip ties, and soldering each connection.

Once we complete a job, we have a different technician check out the vehicle. He goes over the same functions, and also checks the work performed. In this case, he checked the hood pin, brake shutdown, unlock, lock and remote start. The hood pin is essential in every remote start. It is a pin under the hood that senses whether the hood is closed or open. If the hood is open and someone tries to remote start the vehicle, it will not start and the system will give an error. This is a major safety feature. We install a hood pin on every vehicle we install a remote start in.

We vacuumed the vehicle and added a complimentary Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security water bottle, and a VIP hanger. We taught our client how to use the new remote start, and answered any questions.

2010 Toyota Tundra from Anchorage Gets Remote Starter

A new client from Anchorage came in with a 2010 Toyota Tundra and inquired about a remote starter. We presented many different options, including the choice of one-way or two-way systems. One-way systems do not give you confirmation that the truck has started on the remote control. A two-way system advises you when the vehicle has successfully started.

The client chose a Compustar CS800. The CS800 is a one-way system with 1,000 feet of range. We scheduled an appointment to install the CS800 on his Tundra.

We started by inspecting and checking all the functions of the truck, using our iPad check-in template. Our technicians use Tesa tape and zip ties, and always solder each and every electrical connection.

Once the job is complete, we have a different technician check the vehicle out. He goes over all the check-in functions and also reviews the work that we performed. In this case, he checked the hood pin, break shutdown, unlock, lock and remote start functions. The hood pin is essential in every remote starter. It lets the remote starter know if the hood is open or closed. If the hood is open and someone tries to remote start the vehicle, it will not start and will give an error. Proper protection like this is a fundamental safety feature, so we install a hood pin on every vehicle.

Before we pull the truck out of our Bay, we place a complimentary Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security bottle of water in the cup holder and add a VIP hanger. We review with the client how to use their new remote starter and answer any questions they might have.

If you are interested in a remote starter, call us at 907-563-8112, drop by or contact us here.

2015 Toyota Sienna Compustar Remote Start Swap

A client from Eagle River came in to Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security with their 2015 Toyota Sienna. We recently removed the remote start and Drone from their previous vehicle.

Our client liked the Compustar system so much that they didn’t want to get rid of it when they bought a new vehicle, which gave them a little bit of a price break. There was also no learning curve for our client. They were fully familiar with their system and will continue to love it.

We took their old unit and  reinstalled it in the brand-new Sienna.

We also added horn honk to the Sienna. “Horn honk” is when you tap the lock button and the horn honks. This confirms the vehicle has been locked and also helps clients find their cars in big parking lots or garages.

When you are ready to have a remote start of your own installed, or need more information about remote starters, come on in or give us a call. You can Contact Us Here.

Why Does My Toyota Stereo System Sound Terrible?

05/10/2016 By John Schwartz

Toyota StereoOne of the popular brand of vehicles we see at Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security is Toyota, and one of the most common questions we get is, “Why does my Toyota stereo system sound so bad?” Sometimes they will follow up with, “My last Toyota sounded much better than this one.” Chances are, they are correct. Let us explain.

The Reason

In the year 2012, Toyota introduced Display Audio radios to the market. These are touchscreen radios that, over the years, have evolved into doing a great job at integrating with your smartphone. The bad news is this radio cost Toyota a lot more money than previous models, and they knew they couldn’t charge more for their vehicles, so they took money from other parts of the audio system.

Let’s use a 2011 Camry as an example. Once you moved from the base model to an LE, the vast majority came with Toyota’s premium-sound JBL audio system. While it doesn’t sound as good as an aftermarket system we sell here at Perfectionist, it did sound much better than Toyota’s basic audio. It played louder and had more bass.

Move forward to 2012 and the JBL system is only available on Toyota’s top-of-the-line vehicle, and it was still an option, not standard equipment. To make matters worse, the speakers used in modern Toyota audio systems are lower quality than previous years, again, done in the name of cost savings.

The Solution

The good news is we can fix these problems. Here are our suggestions for how to make your Toyota audio system sound better.

Toyota StereoStart with upgrading your front speakers. You sit in the front of the vehicle, so have us install a better-sounding set of speakers in the original locations. Your vehicle won’t play any louder, but the clarity will skyrocket.

Add a subwoofer. Your stock Toyota audio system is seriously lacking in bass. In fact, when Toyota went to the really cheap speakers, they added an equalization circuit designed to remove bass from the music at higher levels to protect the speakers. It is no wonder you have no real bass in your music. Our team of experts can add a subwoofer to your stereo system, giving you low-end bass that will make your music come alive. And don’t worry – you don’t need a huge box in your trunk anymore. That was the ’90s. We can design and build an enclosure for you that tucks into a corner, taking up almost none of your vehicle’s usable space.

Toyota Stereo-4Get some power. Now that you have better-sounding speakers and real low-end bass, you may want your speakers in the vehicle to play louder. When your favorite song starts playing and you crank the volume know, you need power to play your music at louder levels. Perfectionist can add an amplifier to your Toyota factory radio in the dash and give you all the power needed so you can listen as loud as you want.

Upgrade Your Toyota Stereo System At Perfectionist Today!

We invite you to stop by Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security in Anchorage with your Toyota vehicle and get to know us. Our highly trained staff will sit in your vehicle with you and listen as you tell us what you like and what you don’t like about your current stereo system.
