Let Perfectionist Install Your Pickup Truck or SUV Leveling Kit

04/21/2021 By John Schwartz

Truck LevelingWhether you’re looking for that perfect stance or want to run taller tires, a pickup truck or SUV suspension leveling kit from Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security in Anchorage is the perfect upgrade. We don’t just supply the parts; our expert technicians can install the strut or spring spacers or new keys to get you back on the road quickly.

What Is a Truck Leveling Kit?

Truck LevelingIf you’ve looked at any of the popular pickup trucks sitting on the dealership lot, you’ll see most of them have a slight nose-down rake and usually more clearance around the rear wheels. A leveling kit allows us to raise the front of your vehicle between 1 and 2.5 inches (depending on the model) to put the truck level to the ground. Once level, you can run a larger front tire to increase ground clearance, and your truck will look “right” whether it’s rolling down the road or parked.

Depending on the design of the suspension, leveling kits come in different styles. Some use upper or lower strut spacers, while others use spring spacers, new torsion keys or redesigned upper control arms. We carry popular brands like Zone Off-Road, Ready Lift, Rough Country, BDS and Fabtech. While working on the truck, we can replace the struts and shocks with upgraded units from Fox Racing or adjustable solutions from Bilstein.

Our leveling solutions include all the hardware required to ensure that brake lines are routed for safe operation and ABS sensors continue to function perfectly. Some kits, like the Zone Offroad solution for the Jeep Gladiator, include bump-stop extensions and sway-bar end links.

After everything is installed and all the fasteners are torqued back to factory specifications, we’ll make sure your vehicle is aligned to handle properly and not wear out your tires. We can even re-aim your headlights, fog lights or driving lights to ensure that you can see safely and won’t blind oncoming drivers.

2010 Toyota Tundra from Anchorage Gets Remote Starter

Tundra Remote Starter

A new client from Anchorage came in with a 2010 Toyota Tundra and inquired about a remote starter. We presented many different options, including the choice of one-way or two-way systems. One-way systems do not give you confirmation that the truck has started on the remote control. A two-way system advises you when the vehicle has successfully started.

The client chose a Compustar CS800. The CS800 is a one-way system with 1,000 feet of range. We scheduled an appointment to install the CS800 on his Tundra.

We started by inspecting and checking all the functions of the truck, using our iPad check-in template. Our technicians use Tesa tape and zip ties, and always solder each and every electrical connection.

Once the job is complete, we have a different technician check the vehicle out. He goes over all the check-in functions and also reviews the work that we performed. In this case, he checked the hood pin, break shutdown, unlock, lock and remote start functions. The hood pin is essential in every remote starter. It lets the remote starter know if the hood is open or closed. If the hood is open and someone tries to remote start the vehicle, it will not start and will give an error. Proper protection like this is a fundamental safety feature, so we install a hood pin on every vehicle.

Before we pull the truck out of our Bay, we place a complimentary Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security bottle of water in the cup holder and add a VIP hanger. We review with the client how to use their new remote starter and answer any questions they might have.

If you are interested in a remote starter, call us at 907-563-8112, drop by or contact us here.

Toyota Tundra Lighting Upgrades And More

11/29/2015 By John Schwartz

Toyota Tundra LightingOne of our clients decided to drop by Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security after buying himself a new truck. He wanted to upgrade the Toyota Tundra lighting and add a remote starter to his brand-new truck. We talked with him about where he was going to be using the truck and about how much extra light he wanted. With a plan in place, we set to work on helping this customer turn night into day.

High-Power Lighting Grille

The 19″ light bar added to the front grille adds a lot of additional light for enhanced driving safety.

The replacement front grille adds a rugged look to this Tundra.

The customer supplied a replacement front grille that features integrated light mounts. We fitted a Vision X XPi-9M 19” light bar into the opening in the center of the grille. To fill the mounting locations on either side of the main light, we choose a Vision X XIL-OP110KIT that includes a pair of 10-Watt 3.0” Square Optimus Single lights.

Long-Distance Viewing With Huge Light Bar

Toyota Tundra Lighting
The Vision 51″ light bar mounts up high for maximum light dispersion.

To further enhance long-distance viewing when off-road, we installed a Vision X XPI-27M 51” light bar above the windshield. This monster LED light bar features a whopping 14,256 lumens of light output. The design features both a spot and flood pattern to best illuminate the road straight ahead while lighting up the shoulders, to allow the driver to see any animals that may be thinking of dashing out to make a sudden crossing.

Additional Lighting Completes The Toyota Tundra Lighting Package

The headlights and fog lights were also upgraded with high output lighting.

We also retrofitted the factory lighting locations with HID replacement kits in the high and low beams, as well as in the fog lights in the massive front bumper. We also installed a set of 2” square Solstice series lights from Vision X in the rear bumper.

Looking Good

While the Tundra was in our care we installed the client’s new hood.

While we had the truck in the shop, we installed a new custom hood for the customer. The customer brought us the hood after having it painted to match the Toyota Super White factory paint. We took care to make sure the hood was aligned as perfectly as possible to maintain Toyota’s reputation for quality.

Peace Of Mind

To help our customer protect his investment, we outfitted the Tundra with a Compustar Pro T11 security system. The Pro T11 includes an amazing five-button remote control that offers up to 3 miles of range. The LCD screen on the remote makes it easy to know if the vehicle is locked at just a glance. Should the alarm go off, the owner can see what sensor or input was triggered. The T11 remote also features an IPX7 waterproof rating. You can drop it in a snow bank, a pool or a lake. All you need to do is fish it out and wipe it off, and it will be as good as new.

The customer decided to add the Drone Mobile cellular interface. Now he can lock and unlock his vehicle, or be alerted if the alarm goes off, via the Drone App on his cellphone.

Final Tuning Extracts Maximum Performance

As with any system we install at Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security, we ensure that everything we do is configured for maximum reliability, performance and ease of use. We aligned all the lights against our shop wall to ensure even output. We carefully calibrated the alarm shock sensor for maximum sensitivity without the risk of false alarms.

Finally, after we tested everything, it was time to return the truck to the owner. He was blown away by just how much output the Vision X lights offered, and loved knowing his pride and joy was safe. If you are interested in lighting or security upgrades for your car or truck, we invite you to drop by today or contact us here.
