Why Remote Car Starter Range Is Important

09/14/2015 By John Schwartz

Remote Car Starter Range

One of the most important features to consider when buying a remote car starter is range. The staff at Perfectionist Autosound & Security are experts in remote car starters, and we have literally done tens of thousands of remote car starters. Our team has seen every possible scenario for when clients will want to start their vehicles, so we know how much range you are going to need. Here’s why you need plenty of range in your remote car starter.

If you have never owned a remote car starter, then you probably think that you will only want to use it to start your vehicle from home. Since you probably don’t park your vehicle very far from the house, a basic system will give you all the range you need to do that. Your assessment would be accurate if that was the only place you were going to use it.

Spoil Yourself With A Long Range Remote Car Starter System

Here is a reality. Once you go out to that warm, remote-started vehicle one time, you won’t ever want to go out to a cold one again! And once you enjoy not having to scrape ice off your windows, why would you ever want to do that again?

Keep this in mind, though. Over the course of an average week, what is the farthest you will ever be from your vehicle? Say, for example, you’re at work, the shopping center, church, school, out to dinner, etc. Any of these locations is likely to put your vehicle farther away from you than your driveway at home. Any place where your vehicle may sit for 45 minutes or longer should be considered a spot from which you will want to remote-start it. You may not need to run it as long as first thing in the morning, but why would you want it to be cold if you have paid to have something installed that is supposed to warm it up?

Incredible 3 Mile Remote Car Starter Range is Now Available

Remote Car Starter RangeThe good news is that we have systems that will safely start your vehicle from up to 3 miles away. That’s right: 3 miles. Compustar has released its T11 system, which has more than three times more range than the competition. We have more than a dozen different models, including this system, so we are sure to have a system that will fit your range needs.

Unlimited Range By Drone

Remote Car Starter RangeMaybe you are the kind of person who doesn’t like having extra remotes with your keys. No problem. Our drone system is smartphone-based, and can start your vehicle from anywhere, as long as your phone has Internet service. Our system in your vehicle has Internet access. We call this the unlimited range system.

We invite you to stop by Perfectionist Autosound & Security with your vehicle. Let us show you why Mobile Electronics magazine has named us the Retailer of the Year for the whole USA. Our team of experts will work with you to find the perfect system for your needs, and our highly skilled installers will perform the most reliable installation available anywhere.

Manual Transmission Remote Starter: Yes We Can!

09/12/2015 By John Schwartz

Manual Transmission Remote Starter

Many people think that you can only remote start a vehicle that has an automatic transmission. The reality is that Perfectionist Autosound & Security has been safely remote starting manual transmission vehicles for a long time. Now you’re thinking, “What happens if I leave my vehicle in gear?” That is a great question. We have designed several safeguards into our remote car starters to ensure your vehicle will never start if it is in gear.

Here Is How The Manual Transmission Remote Start Sequence Works

When you arrive at your destination, you simply pull into your parking spot. While the vehicle is still running, you engage the parking brake with your foot still on the brake pedal. All you have to do is wait 3 to 4 seconds before turning off the ignition. When you turn off the ignition, the vehicle will keep running because the remote starter has engaged. It knows to do this because of the sequence of pressing on the brake pedal while engaging the parking brake. You now exit the vehicle. When the last door closes, the vehicle will automatically lock the doors and shut off the engine. At this point, the vehicle will remote-start when you are ready, as it knows you got out of the vehicle while it was running, which meant the vehicle had to be in neutral. Pretty simple, huh?

Remote-Starting Manual Transmission Vehicles

Manual Transmission Remote Starter Safety Goes To Another Level

But let’s take your safety to the next level. When Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security installs a remote car starter on a manual transmission vehicle, we also use a special sensor known as a digital tilt & motion sensor. Here is what that sensor does for you: If you ask the vehicle to remote-start and, for some rare reason, it does, even though you didn’t go through the proper setup procedure, this sensor has your back. It will sense as little as 3 inches of movement, and instantly kill the ignition. There is no way your manual transmission vehicle is ever going to start in gear when you choose Perfectionist to install your remote starter.

Remote Car Starter Communication Systems Explained

09/12/2015 By John Schwartz

remote car starter communication systems

Here at Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security, we sell lots of remote car starters to our clients here in Anchorage, Alaska. It is part of our DNA. And one of the most common questions is, “What is the difference between a one-way and a two-way remote car starter?” Let’s explore the differences and advantages of both types of remote car starter communication systems.

1-Way Remote Car Starter Systems

remote car starter communication systemsOne-way systems are where it all began. In simple terms, a one-way system is just like your factory-installed keyless entry system: You push a button on your remote control and the remote communicates with the vehicle. Pretty simple. The advantage of a one-way system is the price. It is less expensive to install than a two-way system. These also come in a wide variety of ranges, from basic systems designed to start your vehicle from your home to systems with ranges of up to a mile away.

2-Way Remote Car Starter Systems

remote car starter communication systemsTwo-way systems came on the scene in the late 1990s and have steadily been growing in popularity. In a two-way system, the remote control communicates with the vehicle and the vehicle communicates back to the remote. This means you will know exactly what is going on with your vehicle. Imagine this scenario: You push the start button on your remote control, and almost instantly you hear a beep. That’s the vehicle telling you that it has received the command. About 5 to 10 seconds later, when the vehicle has started, the system sends you a second confirmation telling you it is running. Depending upon the system you choose, you will also have an LED screen that illuminates or an LCD display that actually shows you the car is running.

You may now be asking yourself, “Why do I care if the remote tells me that my car is running? I can just look out the window of my house and tell.” What we know from experience is that, after you go out to a warm vehicle one time, you will never want to get in a cold vehicle again, so now, you have to think about all the places your vehicle will sit over an average week, and then you realize how many times it will not be in eyesight. That makes having confirmation a great thing.

Another benefit of a two-way system is knowing your vehicle is locked. Have you ever gotten out of your vehicle, been distracted by a phone call and not remembering whether you locked your doors once you are a good distance away from your vehicle? No problem. You just keep on walking and press the lock button on the two-way system you got from Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security. The remote will instantly get confirmation that the doors are locked, and that your vehicle is safe and secure.

Should you decide to add the security function to your remote car starter, your two-way system also will let you know if anyone tampers with your vehicle. That alone is great for peace of mind.

T-11 Remote Offers 3 Mile Range

remote car starter communication systems Range is always a popular topic up here in Alaska, and our two-way systems have the longest range available. The new Compustar T-11 system works over up to 3 miles of range! And it comes packaged in a remote that is water-resistant and can take a beating, unlike anything you have seen before.

Smartphone Control With Drone

remote car starter communication systemsFor some people, carrying an extra remote is a hassle, yet they love the idea of the two-way confirmation. For you, we offer the Drone. It allows your smartphone to control your remote start and/or alarm system from anywhere the phone has Internet access and your vehicle’s system can access the Internet. You simply fire up the app on your phone, tap the virtual button and you are good to go. The phone will give you notifications of any function you desire.

We Are The Remote Car Starter Installation Experts In Anchorage

09/09/2015 By John Schwartz

Remote Car Starter Installation

A question we hear quite often at Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security is “What makes you the experts in remote car starter installation here in Anchorage?” The answer is that we stay at the forefront of technology when it comes to the installation and integration of security and remote car starter systems, in spite of the never-ending changes in vehicle features and technologies.

We Understand The Complexity Of Today’s Cars

Remote Car Starter InstallationVehicle manufacturers want to offer as many options to buyers as they can. They add options like trunk release, power door locks, power windows, having your radio stay on until you open the door, etc., to even the most entry-level of vehicles. That all adds to complexity. Even something as simple as having your dome light slowly fade out after you close the door means more wires and modules are needed to control such functions. Wires and modules cost money and add weight, so automakers use centralized computers to control all these functions and much more. The good news is that we at Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security know how to talk to each and every one of them. This comes in handy in every remote car starter installation that we do!

Automotive Digital Communication Is Our Forte

We have expertise in digital vehicle integration and communication. When we install a keyless entry, security or remote car starter system in your car, we don’t bypass the factory technologies – we make use of them digitally through the vehicle CAN data bus. Our expertise is backed by the best companies in the industry, so you know your system will be easy to use and reliable. Even complex vehicles like Mercedes-Benz, vehicles with high-encryption transponder keys or BMW with multiple data communication networks are no problem for us. We don’t just think we can do it – we probably have already done it.

We Use Best Practices In Each Remote Car Starter Installation We Perform

Remote Car Starter InstallationWhen we make electrical connections to your vehicle, we take the utmost care to ensure they are every bit as reliable as the connections the automaker used. We solder and insulate all wire connections. We protect the connections with the same materials used on the rest of the wiring in your vehicle, be it plastic split-loom tubing, premium electrical tape or automotive-grade cloth tape. This makes the connections reliable, and it conceals them as well. In many cases, someone looking under the hood or under the dash of your vehicle will never know anything was added.

We install thousands of security and remote car starter systems each year. Our attention to detail, experience, and access to the latest hardware and software technologies are what have made us one of the top destinations for remote car starter and security system installation in the United States.

Click here to meet the Perfectionist Team or, better yet, drop by and let us show you why our vehicle integration is the best there can be for your pride and joy. We have many fully functional displays and vehicles with remote car starter systems installed in them. You can try a system before we start work on yours.

Perfection is not just our namesake; perfection is our way of life. Come in and experience it for yourself.

Brand Spankin New Website

07/31/2015 By John Schwartz

websitelaunch2
After being recognized in 2011 for having one of the “best websites in the industry” we were excited and motivated to have so many eyes on our little part of the web. Anyone who knows websites knows that they have to constantly evolve and adapt to stay current.

D’zine Alaska has been our marketing, design and branding partner for the better part of a decade and they design everything that makes Perfectionist… well… Perfectionist, including our websites. After launching a whole new website last summer (2014) that got great accolades from industry colleagues and specialists, we realized that we were needing to ramp up our SEO side of the site and that expanding to include someone who specialized in such services was going to be necessary. We needed to make sure that our website, unmatched in design and user experience, was performing on the back-end as well, driving traffic, and essentially sales to our door.

That’s when John, here at Perfectionist, and Don at D’zine Alaska sat down and talked about “who is the best source out there to accomplish the type of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) that we need?” That’s when Mitch Schaffer’s name came up. See, Mitch owns 1sixty8 media. His company also builds amazing websites… but Mitch  specializes in SEO and site content development and management. Basically they know how to add content on a regular basis that will be relevant to the types of information online users will be searching for and will drive traffic to those post pages on your site. Between optimizing the site settings, page content and continually adding relevant content to the site, they have become SEO ninjas. The other major aspect to Mitch’s specialty was that he himself is a shop owner and he knows the 12 volt industry inside and out.  His store in Pennsylvania was named the 2010 Mobile Electronics Retailer of the Year.

That is how the collaboration between D’zine Alaska and 1sixty8 media came together to create the beast of a website you now sit in front of, or hold in your hand. The idea was to harness the experience and industry leading expertise both companies are known for and bring them together into one amazing project. D’zine Alaska handled all things design and layout, ensuring that the bold and exciting design elements that enhanced the user experience were retained, so visitors would be impressed by what Perfectionist has to offer and who they are as a company, a company who invests in their brand and company culture.

1sixty8 media handled the backend, overseeing development and platform decisions, timeline and project management, content writing and working to adapt those technologies to fit the design and aesthetic goals D’zine Alaska had in mind. Their experience in developing sites specifically for John’s industry were vital in ensuring that the final product would not only make sure there were visitors coming to see it, but that they would become well informed and ready to become customers, which is the end goal of any business.

We are excited to launch our fourth website with D’zine Alaska at the helm and our first website with the unique and experienced skills of 1sixty8 media powering the machine and helping us achieve our vision of having THE best website in the industry. This powerhouse team-up really brought their A game and the end result is something we are very proud of.
