Compustar DroneMobile: Out with the Old, In with the New!

2011 GMC Sierra Drone 3400 Upgrade

A repeat client came back to Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security with his 2011 GMC Sierra. We previously installed a DroneMobile 1000 that was on the old 2G cell service. After January 1, 2017, the 2G network will no longer exist.

The client contacted Compustar and took advantage of their special plan to upgrade their Drone to the Drone 3400. The Dr3400 will now be on the 3G network. We swapped out the Dr1000 for the Dr3400 in the Sierra. He didn’t lose any of his subscription, and his Drone works the same, if not better!

If you have an older Drone and are curious about the steps to go forth with changing it out before January 1, 2017, give us a call at 907-563-8112. You can also Contact Us Here.

Range without Limits on 2011 4Runner Two-way Remote Start

04/27/2016 By John Schwartz

2011 4Runner Remote Start
2011 4Runner Remote Start

A client came to Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security with their 2011 Toyota 4Runner, looking for a two-way remote start with unlimited range. “Two-way” meaning she will be notified when the vehicle is started, locked or unlocked through an LED light, audible tone or LCD screen – even through a push notification if using the Compustar Drone.

She decided on the RSD-3400S Compustar Drone because it is a two-way with an unlimited amount of range. The Drone also has an option for GPS tracking, vehicle status, speed tracking and much more that the client can later upgrade to within the app.

We start every install with a check-in using an iPad, which includes taking photos of the exterior, checking the functions of the vehicle and performing a battery test. We then put a battery charger on the vehicle with a fender cover to protect the vehicle’s paint from any scratches.

Our tech preps the install by soldering every connection, electrical-taping each connection and then using Tesa tape to clean up the install. After the install, our tech vacuums the vehicle and wipes down the dash, and then another tech checks out the vehicle. We then present the vehicle to the client and our sales team teaches our client how to use the new auto start.

When you are ready for your own remote starter convenience, or if you would like more information about remote starters, come on in or give us a call. You can Contact Us Here.

2011 Ford Escape Upgrades For Anchorage Client

02/28/2016 By John Schwartz

Ford Escape UpgradesA client from Anchorage, Alaska, came to Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security in search of several 2011 Ford Escape upgrades. He wanted a remote start system and more music options. We had a look at the truck and worked together the client to decide how he wanted to use the remote start and what features he wanted from a new radio. With that decided, we set to work.

Always In Touch

Ford Escape Upgrades
The client loved the idea that he would be able to have complete control of his remote start system with his smartphone.
Ford Escape Upgrades
In addition to the smartphone control of the system, the client also has the option of using a traditional 4 button remote.
Ford Escape Upgrades
Just one more reason why Perfectionist is a leader in the industry. Our use of OEM spec products, like Tesa tape, give us outstanding results.

We have a lot of different Compustar remote start systems on display in our showroom, and even more available to be used in our employees’ vehicles. The client had the opportunity to try the different remote control options before buying and decided on the Compustar DroneMobile system.

DroneMobile uses an app on an Android smartphone or iPhone to communicate with the remote starter system. The client receives a month of free DroneMobile service upon activation of his system and then chooses one of four service plans. The RSD-3100S DroneMobile remote start kit also includes a four-button RF remote control with a 1,000-foot range as a backup.

We installed the remote start in the client’s vehicle with the same attention to detail and care that every one of our customers receives. We soldered every connection to ensure it would be 100% reliable. We then protected each connection with 3M electrical tape. Finally, we wrapped all the new wiring with Tesa cloth tape to give it a factory-installed look. The use of cloth tape eliminates the chance of the new wiring buzzing or rattling in the dash. Automakers use Tesa cloth tapes in factory harnesses for the same reason.

Music Matters

Ford Escape Upgrades
The factory radio in this Escape had limited media play-back options.
Ford Escape Upgrades
The Pioneer radio upgrade brought this Escape up to 2016 technology standards with Bluetooth, Pandora, Spotify and more potential audio sources.

To fulfill the client’s request for more audio sources, we used his choice of a Pioneer DEH-X6800BT source unit. This single-DIN AM/FM receiver features Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming, as well as a USB port on the front panel. Both Android and iPhones can play their music directly through either connection. The client can also stream music from Pandora or Spotify.

To install the radio, we used a dash kit that replaces the entire front panel on the center console. The kit allows us to reinstall the heating and cooling controls and provides the option of installing a two-DIN radio, or single-DIN with a storage pocket. The black finish of the kit matches the dash and the radio cosmetics nicely, so we chose not to paint it to match.

Client Loved The Ford Escape Upgrades!

When the client returned to Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security to pick up the truck, we gave him a complete walk-through on how the remote starter system and radio operated. Ensuring our clients are comfortable with how to operate the products we sell is as important to us as the products themselves. Training is a standard part of our service.

If you are interested in a remote starter, security system or any audio upgrades to your vehicle, drop by the store. We’d be happy to review your request and propose a solution.
