A new client who was referred by a friend brought her 2013 Subaru Impreza to us to get a remote start system for it. She wanted to be able to start the vehicle from indoors, so our team walked her through some remote start system options, and we got her fixed up.

We selected a Compustar 7900AS system with an RF-2WT9 remote that gives her two-way control and feedback on the vehicle’s current status, and has plenty of range to start it from wherever she needs to. This kit includes a Compustar FT7000-AS that provides a robust platform for both remote start and full alarm functionality to protect her investment. We also installed an FT-DAS sensor that detects impacts to the vehicle and tilting from jacking or towing to complete the package.

For all your remote start upgrades, Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security has you covered. Stop by to see our team at the shop — we would love to customize your vehicle to fit your style. [96424]

2-Way Remote Car Starter Installation

Here at Perfectionist Auto Sound, we work closely with many car dealerships in Anchorage to service their vehicles. One of the dealerships recently came in with a client’s 2013 BMW X5, looking for a new remote start. Not only is this a complex vehicle on its own, but it also happened to be a push-to-start. Our techs are extremely experienced with European vehicles and are skilled and experienced in working with the complex wiring of a push-to-start button as opposed to standard key starts. We walked through many options for remotes while guaranteeing a clean and reliable install, as always. Eventually, we decided on the RFX-2WG15-FM, a two-way remote with a half-mile range. Two-way means that the remote will notify the client once the car starts through blinking LED lights and an audible tone, and even through their phone if using the Compustar Drone car-starting app.

We started the install with our standard procedure of doing a battery test, plugging the vehicle into a battery charger and checking all of the functions of the vehicle. We then finished up the install with our standard procedure of double-checking all of the functions of the vehicle and vacuuming the interior.
The dealership picked up the vehicle and delivered it to their client, who was so excited not have to go out into the cold any longer to warm up their car.

Servicing Car Dealers and the Public

If you or anyone you know are looking for a new remote start for your complex European vehicle, you can trust our experienced and knowledgeable technicians here at Perfectionist to take care of you. Contact them here.

Remote Start and Subwoofer Upgrade for Anchorage Mercedes C300

01/27/2020 By John Schwartz

Mercedes SubwooferA client from here in Anchorage dropped into Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security to ask about adding a remote starter and custom subwoofer system to his 2013 Mercedes-Benz C300 sedan. Having installed many remote start systems in these vehicles, we knew this was a perfect platform for a Mid City Engineering interface. We inspected the vehicle to formulate a few options for the audio upgrade. After a discussion with the client, we developed a plan to add a solid bass foundation to his European vehicle.

Custom Mercedes Subwoofer System

Our team did a great job adding bass while leaving plenty of space in this trunk.

The accent lighting and grilles really set this build apart.

The client was content with the features of the factory-installed audio system, but he wanted it to produce more bass with better low-frequency extension. We suggested the addition of a single 12-inch subwoofer and offered the option of building a trim piece to give the system a little extra style. With his approval, our fabrication team set to work creating a custom-sealed enclosure for a single Morel Ultimo Titanium subwoofer. The enclosure is located at the back of the trunk and the sub fires rearwards into the cargo area of the vehicle. The enclosure and trim pieces are constructed using techniques we learned while at Mobile Solutions in Arizona.

Using three layers of medium-density fiberboard (MDF), we created vinyl-wrapped trim pieces for around the woofer, then accent pieces of either side of the sub that include pressed mesh grilles. The trim pieces are wrapped in several different colors and we added flexible LED lighting around the grille openings.

Subwoofer Amplifier and Integration

A Pioneer GM-D9601 amplifier provides up to 800 watts to power the Ultimo TI 122 driver. The amp is wired to the vehicle electrical system using a 4-AWG amp kit from Stinger Electronics. We also used a PAC Audio two-channel line-level interface to extract an audio signal from the factory-installed sound system.

The Mercedes can be controlled from the client’s smartphone.

The client chose the limitless range of the Drone system.

After a discussion about how the client would be using the remote starter, we suggested combining the factory key fob integration of the Mid City Engineering interface with a Drone X1-LTE smartphone interface module. The client can start the vehicle and control the door locks from his smartphone from anywhere in the world, so long as both he and the vehicle have access to a cellular data signal.

Alaska’s Mobile Enhancement Specialists

After a few days of work, we had the starter and subwoofer system installed in this C300 Mercedes-Benz. The client was very happy with the work and loved the way the stereo sounds. If you are considering an upgrade for your car or truck, drop by Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security in Anchorage or click here to send us an e-mail.

VW Passat Remote Starter and DroneMobile for Wasilla Client

A client from Wasilla, Alaska, came in with a 2013 Volkswagen Passat for a remote car starter. The first thing we ask with any European vehicle is how many keys the client has. Most European car owners have to lose the second key or valet key for the remote start to work. We install this extra key with our install. Our client confirmed they had a second key they could give up, and we proceeded with picking a remote start.

The client decided on Compustar’s DroneMobile and the RF-1WG6. The RF-1WG6 is a one-way remote with 1,000 feet of range. Such a remote comes in handy if your phone dies, the phone isn’t accessible or for just short distances. We started our install by checking every function of the vehicle, using our iPads to record everything. We then performed our install using Tesa tape and zip ties, and soldering each and every connection.

Once we complete a job, we have a different technician check out the vehicle. He goes over the same functions and also checks the work performed. In this case, he checked the hood pin, brake shutdown, unlock, lock and remote start.

After checking out the vehicle, we then vacuumed the Passat. Before we pulled it out of our service bay, we added a complimentary Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security water bottle and a VIP hanger. We taught our client how to use the new remote start and answered any questions.

If you are interested in a remote start for the winter, call us at 907-563-8112 or contact us here.

App Radio 4 Installation in 2013 Volkswagen Jetta of Anchorage

Our customer came in looking for the new Pioneer App Radio 4 to be installed in a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. We familiarized our client with the different functions and perks of the App Radio 4. We then looked up the required parts, such as the dash kit, module and antenna adapter. We agreed on a spot to mount the USB and scheduled an appointment for our client. Less than a week later, we performed our install.

As with every install we do, we started with a vehicle check-in using an iPad, which includes taking photos of the exterior, checking the functions of the vehicle and performing a battery test. We then put a battery charger on the vehicle with a fender cover to protect the vehicle’s paint from any scratches. Our tech prepped the install by soldering every connection, electrical-taping each connection and using Tesa tape to clean up the install.

After the install, again as is our routine, our technician vacuumed the vehicle and wiped down the dash, and then another tech checked out the vehicle. We delivered the vehicle and our sales team taught our client how to use the new App Radio.

When you are ready to upgrade your radio, or need more information, come on in or give us a call. You can Contact Us Here.
