A client from Anchorage, Alaska, came in with a 2016 Subaru WRX STI and inquired about an remote starter for the brand-new car. We went over options such as choosing between a one-way and a two-way. We then talked about how far away they would be when starting the vehicle. We ended up going with the Compustar T11. This unit is a two-way with up to 3 miles of range. It is crush-proof and water-resistant. The T11 also has a three-year warranty on the remotes.

This 2016 WRX is a manual transmission, so the install is a little more invasive than with automatic transmissions. We did have to use extra parts, such as the FT-DAS, which is an advance motion sensor designed for manual transmission vehicles. If the vehicle were to accidentally start in gear, it senses the movement and shuts down the vehicle immediately. We also made sure this WRX had the ability to turn on defrost when remote started when the temperature reaches 42 degrees.

We did our install using the same procedures as with every vehicle we handle, with our check-in and check-out form. We vacuumed the vehicle and, before we pulled the Subaru out of our service bay, we added a complimentary Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security water bottle, and a VIP hanger. We taught our client how to use the new remote start and answered any questions.

If you are interested in a remote start for the winter, call us at 907-563-8112 or contact us here.

Compustar Remote Starter Chosen For Anchorage 2016 Toyota 4-Runner

A client from Anchorage, Alaska, came in with a 2016 Toyota 4Runner and inquired about a remote starter for the brand-new car. They came in knowing they wanted a two-way auto start with at least 6,000 feet of range. We ended up going with the Compustar RF-2W901-SS. This unit is a two-way system that has up to a mile of range and is rechargeable. It also has a one-year warranty on the remotes as long as they are not physically damaged.

We started by checking every function of the vehicle, using our iPads to record everything. We then performed our install using Tesa tape and zip ties, and soldering each connection.

Once we complete a job, we have a different technician check out the vehicle. He goes over the same functions, and also checks the work performed. In this case, he checked the hood pin, brake shutdown, unlock, lock and remote start. The hood pin is essential in every remote start. It is a pin under the hood that senses whether the hood is closed or open. If the hood is open and someone tries to remote start the vehicle, it will not start and the system will give an error. This is a major safety feature. We install a hood pin on every vehicle we install a remote start in.

We vacuumed the vehicle and added a complimentary Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security water bottle, and a VIP hanger. We taught our client how to use the new remote start, and answered any questions.

If you are interested in a remote start for the winter, call us at 907-563-8112 or contact us here.

Anchorage Client Gets Subaru WRX STi Remote Starter System

09/12/2016 By John Schwartz

Subaru WRX STi Remote StarterA client from Anchorage, Alaska, came to Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security inquiring about a Subaru WRX STi remote starter for his 2016 model car. We discussed different system and remote options, such as one-way or two-way. A one-way remote only sends commands to the vehicle. A two-way remote can send commands and receive information back from the vehicle. If something triggers the alarm, two-way communication lets you know right away. The remote will also notify you when the car is started, locked or unlocked.

Ultra Rugged Compustar T11 Remote

The Compustar T11 remote is durable and looks great!

The client chose the Compustar T11 alarm and remote starter system. The T11 remote is a crush-proof, waterproof, two-way design that features up to 3 miles of range. It has a three-year warranty for added peace of mind.

Safety Features For Manual Transmission Starting

This 2016 WRX STI has a manual transmission and a push-to-start keyless ignition, so the installation is a little more invasive than it would be for a car with a standard key. To remote start a manual transmission vehicle, the client must put the vehicle in reservation mode. Activating reservation mode is very easy. Stop the vehicle with the transmission in neutral and let the clutch out.  Next, apply the parking brake and release the brake pedal. The last step is to press the ignition button and exit the vehicle. The engine will keep running. Once the last door is closed, the Compustar system will arm itself and shut down the engine. Once you set reservation mode, the vehicle can then be remote started at any time, unless someone opens a door.

Advanced Motion Sensor

Subaru WRX STi Remote Starter
The DAS Sensor not only augments the remote start safety, but also helps protect the vehicle.

We used an FT-DAS advanced motion sensor, designed for manual transmission vehicles, on this installation. If the vehicle were to move while starting, the motion sensor would detect this and shut the engine down immediately. The FT-DAS also plays a significant role in the security portion of the system. While the vehicle is armed, the sensor is engaged and monitors the vehicle for motion, shock or tilting to the vehicle. That prevents the car from being jacked up or dragged onto a flatbed without the alarm triggering.

Detailed Vehicle Care Procedures

Subaru WRX STi Remote StarterWe started our installation by checking every function of the vehicle and storing that information in our iPad-based logging system. We use premium products like Tesa tape and zip ties, and we always solder each and every connection. Once the job is complete, we have a different technician check the vehicle over. He reviews all the vehicle functions, and inspects and tests the work we performed. After checking the vehicle over and testing the system, we then vacuum the car and add a complimentary bottle of Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security water and a VIP hanger.

Wrapping Up The Subaru WRX STi Remote Starter Install With Instructions

As part of our usual process, we taught our client how to use the new remote starter and answered any questions he had.

Anchorage Company Gets 2016 Ford Transit Remote Start

08/25/2016 By John Schwartz

Ford Transit Remote Start
Ford Transit Remote Start

Our awesome clients from BAC Transportation came to Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security with their brand-new 2016 Ford Transit. They were looking for a two-way remote start with great range – “two-way” meaning they will be notified when the vehicle is started, locked or unlocked.

They decided on the Slice because it is a very slim two-way with 4,000 feet of range. They also added the DroneMobile. This will give them unlimited range and tracking capabilities as long as they have Wi-Fi or cell service.

We then performed our install. We start every install with a check-in using an iPad, which includes taking photos of the exterior, checking the functions of the vehicle and performing a battery test. We then put a battery charger on the vehicle with a fender cover to protect the vehicle’s paint. Our tech then preps the install by soldering every connection, electrical-taping each connection and then using Tesa tape to clean up the install. After the install, our tech vacuums the vehicle and then another tech checks out the vehicle.

When we deliver the vehicle, our sales team teaches our client how to use the new remote and provides any extra information they need to know. When you are ready, or need more information about remote starters, please come in or give us a call at 907-563-8112. You can also Contact Us Here.

Anchorage Client Enhances Safety With Vibe Travel Trailer Cameras

06/27/2016 By John Schwartz

Vibe Travel Trailer CamerasA repeat client from Anchorage came back to Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security to get two 2016 Forest River Vibe travel trailer cameras. We had previously worked on his Dodge Ram truck, and he was very pleased with those results. His truck had the factory-installed 8.4” U Connect touchscreen unit in the dash, and we added FLIR night vision cameras at the front and rear of the vehicle. Whenever the client puts his Ram in reverse, he can see clearly behind him, even in pitch-black conditions. To make night-time driving safer, the forward-facing camera can be activated while driving. Now he can clearly see animals, people and other objects in complete darkness thanks to heat-imaging technology. It is truly incredible how much safer you feel with the front camera activated.

Previous Installation Paves The Way For Vibe Travel Trailer Cameras

When we were installing the cameras on his truck, we used an integration module that was designed with the capability to add side view or blind spot cameras. With this information in mind, it was only logical that he would return to add them to his RV. If you have ever towed a larger vehicle, especially at night, you know the unique challenges that present themselves.

Quick And Easy Connection

Our team installed a waterproof quick disconnect plug at the rear of his Ram that provided an easy way to plug the camera system into his trailer. The Vibe was designed like many modern RVs in that it had black trim all over it, so we color-matched all of our channeling to keep with the black theme.

FLIR Technology For Night Time Viewing

The FLIR cameras offer incredible resolution even at night.

Our technicians use protective green tape to safely test fit the cameras on the side locations.
Vibe Travel Trailer Cameras
Low-profile housings for the cameras keep them safe during travel.

We mounted the side view FLIR night vision cameras strategically on the left and right sides of the trailer so they give the driver a clear view of what was beside him. Since these cameras use the same technology as the ones on his truck, they work great even in total darkness.

Integrated Wiring Makes Camera Use Seamless

Vibe Travel Trailer Cameras
The wiring for the cameras was neatly routed in black plastic channels.

The module we added to the stock color screen in the dash couldn’t be easier to operate. When the client is driving at night, his normal view will be the front camera. When he turns on his left blinker, his screen switches to show the left camera. After the blinker is turned off, the front camera comes back on. The same thing happens when using the right blinker, so switching to any of the images requires no thought on the part of the driver.

Client Loved The Additional Cameras

When the client came to pick up his trailer, he loved the attention to detail on the install as well as the incredible improvement in safe driving.
