Anchorage Ford Transit in for Audio and Comfort Upgrades

04/27/2021 By John Schwartz

Ford TransitA client from here in Anchorage recently brought his 2020 Ford Transit van to Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security for an audio system and sound deadening upgrade. The big cargo van was a bit too noisy inside for the client’s liking. He also wanted the stereo system to sound better with improved clarity and better bass performance. After inspecting the vehicle, one of our Product Specialists put together a simple yet elegant upgrade solution that would deliver exactly what the client wanted.

Ford Transit Sound Deadening Improves Comfort

The first order of business was to remove the entirety of the interior on the Transit so our technicians could install 12 rolls of SoundShield SSD1 acoustic deadening material. This deadening was applied to the floor, the rear side panels, the rear doors and the outer front door skins.

SoundShield’s thick butyl, aluminum and foam material helps prevent sound energy from the tires, exhaust and drivetrain from entering the cab. The difference in comfort is instantly apparent, and it makes driving the van much more enjoyable. A secondary yet equally important benefit is that the clarity of the outgoing audio of the Bluetooth hands-free communication system is much improved.

Audio System Upgrade

We replaced the front door speakers with a set of Morel Tempo Ultra Integra 602 6.5-inch point-source coaxial drivers to improve the stereo. These speakers offer a dramatic improvement in both frequency extension and clarity. The result is that every genre of music sounds clearer and more detailed.

The next step was to install an Alpine PWE-S8 powered subwoofer to the vehicle to add some warmth and extension. This compact subwoofer system features an 8-inch woofer housed in a cast-metal enclosure. It includes a 120-watt amplifier to drive the sub and has all the connections we needed to integrate it into the factory radio. Of course, the key to making it sound good was to configure the crossover and level controls to work with the rest of the van’s speakers.

Alaska’s Vehicle Enhancement Experts

After a few days of work, we had this Ford Transit upgraded and ready to roll again. The client was amazed at how much quieter the vehicle was and loved how the audio system sounds with the new speakers and subwoofer. If you have a car, van or truck that could be more comfortable with a quieter interior, or you want to upgrade its audio system, drop by Perfectionist Auto Sound and Security in Anchorage and speak with one of our Product Specialists. We’d be happy to design a custom solution that addresses your needs. If you can’t visit the store during regular business hours, give us a call or send our team an e-mail using our contact form.

2007 Chrysler Aspen Gets Alpine Subwoofer Upgrade

A customer recently came in with his 2007 Chrysler Aspen looking to add more bass to his sound system. He already had an aftermarket head unit set up for the addition of a couple of subwoofers. After talking to the customer about his needs and how much additional bass he wanted, we wrote up a quote for him and set up an appointment for installation.

We decided to go with two Alpine Type R 12-inch subwoofers in a simple carpeted ported box powered by a 2400 watt Pioneer amplifier. A sealed box moderates the cone’s movement. It also takes more power to produce the same volume as in a ported box. Sealed boxes are typically more compact than ported boxes, and ported boxes are typically more efficient with air flow, so they have more overall output than a sealed enclosure, which means that
they can play louder overall.

The customer was so happy picking up his vehicle, and the box had great sound output.

If you (or anyone you know) are looking to add more bass to your sound system, stop by to see the team at Perfectionist Auto Sound and we can make a box perfectly suited to your wants and needs.

A client from Anchorage came to Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security in search of new speakers and a stereo for their 2000 GMC Sierra. Our team spent time with the client, getting to know them better by listening to what specific features they were looking for and taking a look at the vehicle to see what the best fit would be. We then spent some time looking over some products that we thought would best suit their needs. We worked up a proposal for the client that they liked, so we set an appointment to do the work.

Our team installed a single-DIN Alpine stereo in the dash to replace the original head unit. We also installed 4″x 6″ Pioneer speakers. After finishing the installation, we went over the operation of the products with the client, and they were pleased with how it all worked.

If you would like to add new speakers to your vehicle or upgrade the stereo system, we would love for you to stop by Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security to speak with any of our knowledgeable staff, or you can simply contact us here.

Now Bentley Owners Can Update Their Radios

12/15/2016 By CarTech4You

For those Bentley owners looking to add smartphone connections to their car radio, NAV-TV now offers a radio replacement kit that lets you add a modern radio without breaking the bank (at least not by Bentley standards).

The radios in older model Bentleys are lacking today’s features such as smart phone connectivity, or CarPlay and Android Auto. Also parts are no longer available for some of the older radios and a used eBay model can cost $2,500 and still leave you without a smartphone connection.

A second problem is that Bentley radios are not simple. The car’s heating and cooling and defrost systems are built into the electronics so if you want to replace the radio with a popular, up to date model from Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, Sony or JVC, you are in for a lot of custom installation work.

NAV-TV says installation shops have charged more than $11,000 for a Bentley radio replacement.

So it built a “dash kit” that includes all the controls for Bentley heating and cooling and defrost and lets you add a modern day radio from any leading brand.

The Bentley radio kit HUR V1 works in 2004 – 2011 Bentley Continental, GT, GTC and Flying Spur vehicles. It digitally interfaces with the car’s factory amplifier while requiring no special drilling and it gives you a factory finish that blends into the dash.

Steering wheel control is also enabled for Alpine, JVC and Kenwood radios.

A video of the Bentley HUR V1 may be viewed here

The kit is available starting mid-December.
