Safety Features Built into Every Autostart at Perfectionist

12/28/2015 By John Schwartz

AutostartIf you have always wanted an autostart, then the folks at Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security have you covered. We have been specializing in safely remote starting vehicles since 1999. Our team is famous for the quality standards we use in all of our installations. In fact, autostart manufacturers ask us to train their dealers in proper standards for installation. We have traveled as far as Australia to perform these trainings.

We Offer The Best Autostart Products By Compustar

AutostartWhat does this mean to you? It means you can rest assured that your vehicle will be in good hands here at Perfectionist. We use only the finest products from Compustar, the world leader in autostart technology. As you can imagine, we field lots and lots of questions about this category. One of the most popular topics that comes up is safety. We want you to know that we take your safety, and the safety of your vehicle, very seriously. You have nothing to worry about when we do an installation for you.

Here are some of the safety features built into all of our autostart systems.

Hood Safety Switches

We install hood safety switches on every vehicle. Most shops have discontinued the use of these to save a few dollars. We think this is foolish. The idea behind a hood safety switch is that your vehicle won’t start if the hood is open. That way, if someone is working in the engine compartment in your vehicle, there is no way the engine can be remote started. If it did start, the person working on your vehicle could be injured.

Integration With OEM Security

AutostartOur systems work with your factory theft deterrent systems. We don’t defeat them. Most modern vehicles use what is known as a transponder system to lower the chance of theft. Hidden inside your key or keyfob is a small chip that gets recognized by your vehicle as an authorized key. Unless it sees an authorized key, the vehicle won’t start. Many shops will use tricks to bypass that safety feature so they can offer a lower price. That will never happen at Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security.

Our system will get recognized as an authorized key when you ask the vehicle to start, keeping the transponder system intact. In the event someone tampers with your vehicle, the engine will shut off and the transponder system will re-engage. Your vehicle is just as safe sitting in a parking spot running as it is with the engine off.

Controlled Run Times

Our systems come with designated run times. If you start your vehicle remotely and then something distracts you and you forget about it, it doesn’t sit there running all day. Our systems will run for a specified length of time and then shut off. To make things even better, you can simply press the same button you use to remote start the vehicle to shut it off. If you engage your autostart and then get a phone call that is going to take a long time, simply press the same button on your remote control and shut the engine back down. When you get close to leaving, just ask it to remote start again. It’s that simple.

Tachometer Signal Usage

Every one of our installations always includes a dedicated tachometer signal. A common practice these days is to use what is known as “signal sensing” when doing an installation. The principle is that when your engine starts, the alternator begins charging and the battery voltage will instantly go up. This is supposed to tell the remote start brain that the engine is running. Perfectionist uses a tachometer signal – the same thing your vehicle computer uses to know the engine is running. It may take a little longer, but it is the only foolproof way for the remote start to know your engine is running. Imagine what could happen if the remote start thought your engine wasn’t running, when it had actually started. It’s not good. Our systems will never do that.

Now that you know an autostart can be safely installed on your vehicle, we invite you to come see us at our store in Anchorage. One of our highly trained staff will work one on one with you to find the best solution for your needs. Let us show you why Perfectionist Auto Sound & Security is a multi-time winner of Top Mobile Electronics Retailer in the Nation from Mobile Electronics magazine.
